To apply for the Teacher Certification Program, please fill out the application form below. Applications to the TCP are accepted at any time. Many applicants aim to begin the workshops in September, as the final two workshops held in June are only open to those TCP students who have completed all of the other workshops and are close to certification. Once we have received your completed application and recommendations, the Education Committee will review your application and a CEA/MNY member will interview you via phone or in person. Please allow three weeks for your application to be processed. Should you have any questions, please send an email to tcp@ceamny.org.

Please be aware that applications to the Teacher Certification Program must be received within six months of attending your first workshop in order for the workshop(s) to count towards certification.

Teacher Certification Program Application Form

  • If you'd like to apply for one of our scholarships, please submit 5-7 paragraphs addressing the following topics:

    1. Describe the journey that has led to applying for The Doris Haire Leadership Scholarship or The Still I Rise Leadership Scholarship.
    2. Please review the “Evaluation Criteria and Selection Process” for guidance in writing your answer.
    3. As a scholarship recipient, describe the community you will serve. What kind of impact would you like to make in this community?
    4. Describe, in narrative style, your financial need and why you meet this requirement. Examples of what you might choose to include are whether you are a student and the number of people in your household.

  • Your references will fill out an online reference form. Please direct three references here to fill out a recommendation on your behalf within two weeks of submitting your application. References must be non-relatives who can evaluate your potential as a childbirth educator. At least one reference must be from someone in the field of childbirth. Professional, volunteer and educational references are welcome.
  • Applications are processed once the non-refundable application fee of $35 is submitted. You will be directed to PayPal after you click 'submit'.
  • Once you are accepted into the program, you will receive an acceptance letter that directs you back to the website to become a two-year TCP Student member ($225). For more information about what the TCP Student membership includes, please visit our Membership page. Please do not pay for the TCP Student membership until you have officially been accepted into the program. After your application is submitted, you may purchase workshops at the discounted member rate while we process your application.
