CEA Miles for Midwives

  • Supported Direct Entry Midwifery schools in New York
  • Co-Sponsored the NYC Midwives Alliance of North America Conference
  • Organized and sponsored the first east coast certification program for Holistic Pregnancy and Birth Counseling with Dr. Gayle Peterson PhD
  • Organized and sponsored NYC Doulas of North America (DONA) doula training workshop with DONA founder, Penny Simkin
  • Organized and sponsored workshop "When Survivors Give Birth" with DONA founder, Penny Simkin
  • Supported the earthquake relief efforts in Haiti by donating money to support one of our members fundraising relief efforts
  • Hosted a “Conversation with Ina May Gaskin” for the CEA/MNY 40th Anniversary
  • Donated funds to a TCP’s outreach project with The African Birth Collective in Senegal, West Africa. The midwifery exchange program involved bringing medical supplies and educational materials to donate to the clinic where the TCP was volunteering
  • Received a grant from the March of Dimes used to conduct two sets of childbirth education classes at Montefiore Family Health Center in the Bronx and hosted a community baby shower with information and giveaways for new and expectant mothers
  • Sponsor of the annual Miles for Midwives 5K race to support NYC Midwives and Choices in Childbirth, a non-profit maternal health advocacy organization
